§ 24-7. Operating vehicle without insurance or proof of insurance.
(a)
An owner or any other person who knowingly operates or knowingly authorizes another to operate a motor vehicle without effective insurance on such vehicle or without an approved plan of self insurance as required by the Georgia Motor Vehicle Accident Reparations Act (O.C.G.A. § 33-34-1 et seq.) shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
(b)
The owner or the operator of a motor vehicle shall keep proof or evidence of the minimum insurance coverage required by the Georgia Motor Vehicle Accident Reparations Act (O.C.G.A. § 33-34-1 et seq.). A duly executed vehicle rental agreement shall be considered satisfactory proof or evidence of minimum insurance coverage required by law.
