§ 24-69. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Emergency errand means a mission that results from an unforeseen combination of circumstances that call for immediate action. The term "emergency errand" includes, but is not limited to:

    (1)

    A fire;

    (2)

    A natural disaster;

    (3)

    Automobile accident; or

    (4)

    Any situation requiring immediate action to prevent serious bodily injury or loss of life.

    Minor means any unemancipated person under 16 years of age.

    Public place.

    (1)

    The term "public place" means any place to which the public has access and includes, but is not limited to, streets, highways, alleys or rights-of-way.

    (2)

    The term "public place" includes:

    a.

    Sidewalks, parks, playgrounds, malls or other places or buildings open to the public;

    b.

    Any cemetery, schoolyard, body of water or watercourse;

    c.

    Any privately or publicly owned place of amusement, entertainment or public accommodation, including parking lots; and

    d.

    Any vacant lot or land.
