§ 36-3. Disconnection of services.

  • (a)

    In addition to disconnection of services for nonpayment as provided in this chapter, the city reserves the right to discontinue water, sewer or natural gas service, or any combination thereof, without notice for the following reasons:

    (1)

    To prevent fraud or abuse.

    (2)

    In response to the consumer's willful disregard of the city's rules.

    (3)

    Emergency repairs.

    (4)

    Insufficiency of supply due to circumstances beyond the city's control.

    (5)

    Legal processes.

    (6)

    Direction of public authorities.

    (7)

    Strike, riot, fire, flood or unavoidable accident.

    (b)

    Re-establishing service following disconnection to prevent fraud or abuse or due to willful disregard of the city's rules shall require payment of the same reconnection fee applicable to disconnections for nonpayment. Re-establishing service following disconnection for any other reason may, at the city council's discretion, be subject to a reconnection fee.
