§ 8-538. Discontinuance of city services to violator.

  • (a)

    In the event that the building inspector or other inspectors duly appointed by the governing body shall determine that there is a violation of the city's technical codes or of this Code of Ordinances, the inspector shall give written notice to the person in possession of the premises in violation or, if there is no person in possession of the premises, then the notice shall be affixed to the front of the premises near the main entrance.

    (b)

    Five days from the giving or posting of notice, and if the violation has not been corrected within the five days, the building inspector or other inspectors may, in addition to other remedies, refuse city utility services until the violation has been corrected. The city services withheld shall be only those directly related to the system that is in violation and necessary to ensure correction of the violation.
