§ 20-53. Preliminary research and report.

  • The historic preservation commission shall compile and collect information and conduct surveys of historic resources within the city. The commission shall present to the council recommendations for historic districts and properties. Prior to the commission's recommendation of a historic district or historic property to the council for designation, the commission shall prepare a report consisting of:

    (1)

    A physical description;

    (2)

    A statement of the historical, cultural, architectural and/or aesthetic significance;

    (3)

    A map showing the district boundaries and classifications (i.e., historic, nonhistoric, intrusive) of individual properties therein, or showing the boundaries of individual historic properties;

    (4)

    A statement justifying the district or individual property boundaries; and

    (5)

    Representative photographs.
